It certainly it is the best book I’ve read in the past couple of decades. THis book is stunning, well written, and filled with detail about a complicated relationship that changed modern US history. But now instead of being gay, its because she lied about being gay. Would make a great personal purchase, as well as a gift. This is one of the constantly reprinted books by Budge from the first decade of the 20th century. Chapter 23 of the text (perhaps the book’s most famous) is brilliant and to the point.
